Jan Markell from Olive Tree Ministries said the following, and I paraphrase: "If you contend for the faith today as we are asked to do in Jude 3, it will cost you something. Loved ones will leave you. You will be tempted to cave in and keep quiet. You will feel very alone."
We at The City Gate know these things because it has happened to us and to every Christian we know. The only way to keep your friends and to try and make everyone still like you, is to compromise your faith, which wouldn't be much of a faith at all.
BUT - as Jan says, "if everyone who felt alone would get together, we wouldn't feel alone! We would fill many football stadiums."
When Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into the furnace - so hot that it killed the men who threw them in - they were standing up for their Faith and found that they weren't alone. Jesus went in there with them! The people who sentenced them to death in the fire saw a fourth man when only three were thrown in. Read Daniel 3. It's an amazing story. And that same God will save you.
