Early in 2010, Patricia Scott Fetters had the idea for her Sunday School class to write personal Psalms. Psalms are, afterall, praises or cries to God. We read those written by King David in our Bibles. But we can write psalms to Our Heavenly Father, too.
We will print a few that members of her class wrote. If anyone wants to submit one to The City Gate, please do, to thecitygateusa@aol.com As long as they are praises to Almighty God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we will print them on our blogsite.
Joanne writes:
Most Holy GOD, our Father, our Creator, with my tongue will I praise Thee. Each morning as the sun rises in the east your Majesty is revealed. You spread the sky with your beauty for all to behold. We rise to start the day.
Lord, if I am lonely you share your love. If I grieve you shelter me under your wings. If I am weak you give me strength. If I stumble you forgive and give me the power of your strong right arm. If I have no words, you give me your words to speak. And if I walk, you hold my hand.
All the world shouts out of the creation you have made. In spring a warm gentle breeze warms the earth, and it springs to life all around us, both plants and animals alike. Summer brings forth crops and life-giving food. When the season is fall we reap your bounty of crops and food. Winter shows us the power of the plan for the new year, made beautiful by the snow.
May I forever see you in my every need and give praise for the rainbow after the rain. Amen.
